Indian strife, Chinese revolution..

Archives complete, I am going to try and add a little personal opinion to each entry ;-)

1257 Blood Brothers by MJ Akbar

A half-fiction/half memoir account of 3 generations of his own family, MJ Akbar shows the deep links between Hindus and Muslims and how events strove to divide the communities - While its good reading, I feel the problem is that its not sweeping enough to be an epic - at the same time, its not too detailed even on the charcters he focuses on , more like a collection of anecdotes..
for instance, theres this one abt every Friday at some club being POETS day - thats Piss Off Early, Tomorrow's Saturday.. :-)

1258 Mao : the unknown story by Jung Chang
How I wish this was fiction! The unvarnished true story of Mao reveals a pure monster of a man; who with no regard for the human cost of achieving his goals caused the death of roughly 70 million Chinese. India and Indian politicians seem saints in contrast. should be compulsory reading for all our Communist diehards.

onto next week...
